Charity of the Month: The Elizabeth Dole Foundation
October 3, 2017
The Gingrich Foundation
The Gingrich Foundation is pleased to announce the Elizabeth Dole Foundation as its October Charity of the Month in recognition of its tireless efforts to support the caregivers of millions of brave veterans.
The Elizabeth Dole Foundation was founded in 2012 after Senator Elizabeth Dole learned firsthand the serious challenges faced by the friends and family of ill or injured veterans and service members. While her husband, Senator Bob Dole, was being treated in Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Elizabeth Dole witnessed the tremendous hardships that the spouses, parents, children, and friends of wounded veterans had to overcome in caring for their loved ones.
Since then, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation has been a leader in connecting military families with needed resources – and in shedding light on the crisis these dedicated caregivers face. The Foundation also performs important research in the field of military health care, advocates for policy to support wounded veterans and their families, and brings like-minded groups together to improve outcomes for veterans and their caregivers.
Through its Hidden Heroes Caregiver Community, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation connects military and veteran caregivers of all ages and walks of life, so they can share advice, stories, and support for one another.
Working with the U.S. Conference of Mayors in 2016, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation created its Hidden Heroes Cities program, which brings together 108 cities and counties across the nation that are dedicated to increasing resources for military and veteran caregiver projects.
The Foundation’s Hidden Heroes Fund provides vital resources to innovative programs that support caregivers – improving the lives of 5.5 million Americans.
The Elizabeth Dole Foundation does important work to honor the sacrifice of veterans, military service members, and their friends and families. Please join The Gingrich Foundation in supporting the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, so it can continue to help provide these patriotic caregivers with the support they deserve.
